Theorem

Information

The last complex of the electron transport chain (CIV, also termed cytochrome c oxidase) is located at the inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM), especially at cristae compartment, catalyzing the reduction of oxygen to water. In this process, CiV translocates four H+ across the IMM increasing the transmembrane difference of proton electrochemical potential, used to synthesize ATP.
